We're aiming to raise $180,000 by the end of 2018. Help us make it happen!

More information:

In order to start 2019 with a 9-month runway for our current staff, we are aiming to raise at least $120,000 by the end of this year; if we raise $180,000 we'll hire a fifth team member, who would focus on quantitative research projects such as those listed among our research priorities on our research agenda. Note that in our last hiring round, we had multiple excellent candidates but only the funding to hire one, so we are confident that we will have other excellent candidates in our next hiring round and are strictly constrained by funding. Support in excess of $180,000 will either extend our limited runway or be held until we have the capacity to hire another new researcher, which may be shortly after the next hire. We appreciate any contribution you can make! Take a look at this blog post for a summary of what we accomplished in 2018 and the research we're considering for 2019.

We are in the process of applying for our US 501(c)(3) tax exemption, and in the meantime, the Centre for Effective Altruism, a registered US 501(c)(3), has generously offered to act as our fiscal sponsor. You can make a tax-deductible donation to Sentience Institute by donating through a special fund the Centre for Effective Altruism created for us on Effective Altruism Funds. UK donors can also claim Gift Aid for their contribution.

The link above will direct you to the Sentience Institute fund and will show a fund allocation of 100%. Click the "Looks good!" button to donate by credit card, debit card, bank transfer, wire, or check.

Please note that because donations go through EA Funds, we are only notified of donations on roughly a monthly basis. We deeply appreciate your support and would love to be in touch with you sooner rather than later, so feel free to get in contact with to let us know you supported us! We'll have a more formal donation process in the future.

Subscribe to our newsletter to receive updates on our research and activities. We'll email you once a month at most!
